Experiment.

Children love to discover things for themselves. We use the Experiment domain to give children space to discover their technical talents through play. We encourage children to explore and design. This helps children with creative thinking, innovating, seeing opportunities, and coming up with original solutions and ideas.   When children are given room to take the initiative and explore at an early age, they will reap the rewards of this later in life. 

Those who take the initiative can and are allowed to try to see whether something has a chance of succeeding. They do this by trial and error and that’s part of life. It allows children to develop into proactive adults who dare to try things.    

Explore & design    
We use investigative and design-based learning methods to work on a variety of technical tasks. For example, children get to experiment with separate components and items in Loose Parts Play, or build a real electrical circuit, and toddlers discover their own shadow with Shadow Fun.  
 
We offer activities that are appropriate for their age. Because we allow children to explore and discover things for themselves, we enhance their engagement and independence. This way, they gain new and creative insights all by themselves. It helps children learn to trust their own abilities.   
  
The process is more important than the result    
Experimenting and exploring is mostly about the process. Children are given the freedom to follow their own curiosity. For example, you could come up with as many as 100 experiments with water. How can I make ice melt faster? How much sugar can I dissolve in water? Can I make water disappear? New questions can arise all the time and that’s the fun of it! Sometimes, an experiment doesn’t work the first time. This also teaches children to cope with setbacks. In fact, trying again and making mistakes actually brings the greatest results.

Now and in the future. We use the Experiment domain to teach children to take the initiative and try things, use critical thinking and come up with creative solutions. We introduce them to technology through play. This way, we spark children’s enthusiasm for technology and maybe the inspiration to do something engineering-related in the future.
